Photos from Day one of the 2018 British Athletics Championships

On a hot but strangely windy at times day at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, the crowds were treated to some great performances on the first day of the 2018 British Athletics Championships.

The highlght was probably Dina Asher-Smith who set a British Championship record as she won the women's 100m.  The 22-year-old easily won her heats and then dominated the final, easing away in the final metres to take gold in 10.97 seconds.

In a strong men's field that contained several contenders, Reece Prescod clocked 10.06 to pip Zharnel Hughes (10.13) and CJ Ujah (10.18) and retain his 100m title.

An intriguing competition in the women's high jump saw Morgan Lake beat Commonwealth heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson with a championship record of 1.97m on her second attempt.
