The world of boxing turns out in Sheffield to bid farewell to legendary trainer Brendan Ingle

Hundreds of mourners gathered in Sheffield today to bid a final farewell to legendary boxing coach Brendan Ingle at his funeral at Sheffield Cathedral.  The 77-year-old who famously guided Johnny Nelson, Naseem Hamed, Junior Witter and Kell Brook to world titles died at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital last month.

Suggestions have been made to create a permanent memorial for the trainer in Sheffield - Sheffield City Council have had discussions and former sports minister Richard Caborn has also backed the idea.

GB Elite Boxing Three Nations 2018

Magna in Rotherham was the venue this weekend for the GB Elite Three Nations boxing competition.

The contest of the day for me was definitely the Men's 75KG bout between Ramtin Musah (England) v Ayoub Darre (Scotland).

Ramtin Musah (blue vest) connects with Ayooub Darre (red)

It was hard-hitting stuff from the first bell, with plenty of blows traded and no quarter give.   won split points.  At the end a split points decision went the way of Ramtin Musah.
