Sheffield Sharks keep the ball rolling

With 5 games in a busy 10 day period, Sheffield Sharks continued their good home form last night to beat Cheshire Nix 83-79 and take them back to 5th in the BBL at 10-5 with games on some of their nearest rivals.

It was anything but an easy win - the game against the BBL Cup winners ebbed and flowed throughout, making it a nervy finish for many fans.  Tony Wroblicky, Rob Marsden, Mike Tuck and Sol Rolls-Tyson all contributed to keep 7' CJ Gettys in check with Wroblicky going on to a double-doubel of 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Also in stand-out form was Chris Alexander who contributed 27 points and who importantly never let the Sharks heads drop whenever Nix looked like they were getting back into the game.

Last home game of 2016 for Sheffield Sharks see them beat Cheshire Phoenix

In a roller coaster 2016 which saw them play the under-dog to win the BBL play-off final in May and revamp the team several times before and since, the Sheffield Sharks rounded off 2016 in fine style as they ran out 82-79 winners in a buzzer-beater game against Cheshire Phoenix at the EIS, Sheffield.

In an end-to-end contest, Sharks biggest lead of game was 10 points at 77-67.  The game then swung as Cheshire posted 12 without reply to lead 79-77.  Sharks ended 5-0, crucially with a late 3-pointer from Colin Sing to win 82-79.

Sheffield Sharks turn the tables on Cheshire Phoenix

Having lost 89-97 at home only 4 weeks earlier to Cheshire, the Sharks turned the tables tonight as they won 97-86.  This follows a fine 90-62 victory over Glasgow Rocks last Sunday to help the Sharks up the table.

Jeff Dirkin of Cheshire fouled out with only 62 seconds left on the clock and a number of free throws allowed Sheffield to extend their deserved winning margin.

MVP with 30 points and 9 rebounds - TJ Robinson.
