Tom Bosworth smashes the British record in the 3000m race walk at the UK Indoor Athletics Championships

Tom Bosworth (Andi Drake, Tonbridge) smashed his own British record in the men’s 3,000m walk at the EIS Sheffield, knocking 17 seconds off the mark he set just last month at the England Athletics Indoor Combined Events Championships.  Clocking a time of 10:58.21 was over 1 seconds off each of the 15 laps of the track, helping the 26 year old retain the title he won last year.

"I have got the 20km Olympic qualifying time and I want to get better and improve my PB. I want to go to the Olympics knowing that I can be up there with the best. I have been getting quicker and quicker over short distances and now I want to do it over 20km and show that I can do it internationally as well.”

Lee Emanuel powers home to take the 3000m title at the UK Athletic Indoors Championships

Performance of the day one (puely personal opinion here) at the UK Indoor Athletics Championships today at the EIS Sheffield was Lee Emanuel.  The Sheffield & Dearne athlete (coach - Joe Franklin)) notched up his second indoor 3,000m title and a seat on the plane to Portland after taking to the front with just over one lap to go.
 

The 2015 European Indoor silver medallist was delighted with his win, saluting his home crowd 'Steve Ovett' style as he cruised home to gold in a season’s best 7:55.61 ahead of 5000m British outdoor champion Tom Farrell.
