Well done to Gemma Steel winning European Cross Country gold in Bulgaria

Gemma Steel who is enjoying a fantastic season led home a Great Britain one-two with Kate Avery in the women's race at the European Cross Country Championships in Bulgaria.

In conditions which seemed to level the field, three Britsh females (Avery, Steel and team-mate Steph Twell) were part of the leading pack before Steel won in a sprint finish.

It was a consecutive improvment for Gemma Steel as she had won bronze in 2011 and silver last year at the same event but went one better this time around after edging a tussle with compatriot Kate Avery with both timed at 28 minutes 27 seconds.
