Sheffield Sharks end of season dinner

The end of the regular season and in anticipation of the first game in the playoffs (against Worcester Wolves) saw the Sheffield Sharks in presentation mood to reward the efforts of the players and those concerned with the club.

 The Coach's Player of the Year award was split between Tony Wroblicky and Rashawn Rembert.
The MVP award went to Malcolm Riley who has been involved in a lot of the community work of the Sharks as well.

Ladies Day at the 2017 Betfred World Snooker Championships

It was Ladies Day at the 2017 Betfred World Snooker Championships today and there were various exhibitions going on at the Winter Gardens in Sheffield (just across Tudor Square from the Crucible theatre).

Reanne Evans played a 6-red pairs match in front of the lunch time crowd..

Some shots from the eighth frame of the match between Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ding Jinhui in the first session of their quarter final match at the Crucible, Sheffield.  Ding had raced to a 3-0 lead, Ronnie pegged it back to 3-3.  then there was a re-spotted black in the seventh which Ding won, leaving Ronnie to win this frame and tie it all at 4-4.

End-to-end thriller between Sheffield Sharks and Newcastle Eagles

The DBL Sharks Sheffield went down to a very narrow 82-84 defeat in the final game of regular season at home Newcastle Eagles whom they'd recently beaten.  At half-time another upset was on the card as the Sharks lead 42-37 after being behind early on.  The score see-sawed through the rest of the game and came down ultimately to a three-point effort at the death for the Sharks which hit the hoop and left them down on the day but in good shape for the playoffs.
