Less than two weeks to go

It's nearly February and that is exciting as in less than two weeks, Aviva will be bringing the UK Indoor Athletics Championships back to the EIS in Sheffield. Last year was a fab time (see: 2011 UK Indoor Athletics) and this year promises to be even better as our athletes concentrate on getting selected for the GB Olympic team.

The 300mm f2.8 lens is booked out from Jacobs and will be getting heavy use over the weekend of 11/12 Feb. I'm also going to be trying some remote work with the camera down on the floor near the hurdles with a wide-angle lens and triggered by some Yongnuo 602s.

Before then though I've got a birthday party to shoot next weekend and as it will be indoors, will be trying some green-screen effects to see how creative the 11 year olds can get.

Well, miracles do happen...

I cannot really say anything but how surprised I am that yesterday's criminal activity was resolved so quickly - the nicked image has now been removed by the company that posted it (who themselves have such a lengthy EULA/T&C that you'd think they had a mind to look out for these things themselves).

Really, it would have been nice for them to buy the use of the image which resides at: http://www.peverilphoto.com/photo_6806301.html, but it's only money....

Nasty shock for 2012....

I suppose it had to happen at some time in my 'life' as being a photographer, but I've just seen the first example of my work being used without permission or copyright, and for commercial purposes too!  It was a shock to browse the web and see a restaurant advertising a special offer and using a photo of mine with it.

As the restaurant was a large chain, I had previously contacted them to see if they wanted to use the photo. They did not take up on the offer (their website has a 'generic' photo that they use in a lot of cases). So I contacted them again and asked them about this offer.

They replied that they did not know anything about it. It looks like it has been posted by a third party marketing outfit ripping off my image and then placing the advert in an online 'gazette'. I have contacted both the marketing company and the 'gazette' asking for the article to be removed. We will wait and see.....
